Short Bio

Howdy! My name is Michael Townsend and I am a graduate student from College Station, Texas. I have a passion for mechanical design, additive manufacturing, robotics, and automation, and use my skills in these areas to create dynamic solutions for modern problems. I have had the honor of working on many exciting projects in my career, some of which have even flown in space. For my thesis study, I am researching the degradation of recycled PLA feedstocks through the Manufacturability-Driven Design Lab (MDDL). Aside from my ongoing studies and projects, I’m also a graduate teaching assistant for a product development course that focuses on the business development process, market sector analysis, and reverse engineering. In my limited free time, you can find me on the golf course or enjoying the company of my friends and family.
